This article will describe how to set individualized deadlines in Peerceptiv assignments.
Most instructors run Peerceptiv assignments with common phase deadlines. With the individualized deadlines feature, you can provide extensions to specific individuals without reopening the common phase deadlines for the rest of the assignment participants. This means that Peerceptiv assignments can provide accommodations for those students who need them.
How to Set an Individualized Deadline
Go to the Progress tab on the left side of the assignment dashboard and click the name of the student who needs an individualized deadline on the Progress table.
Then, click on the Deadline Management tab.
Click on the New Deadline button for whichever deadline you would like to change and then select a new date on the calendar. Make sure to change the deadline time if needed and then click Set.
Once the new date is set, you can click “Clear” to cancel that date and revert back to the original assignment deadline.
That’s it! Now the student will see the new deadline and can complete the phase as needed until their new deadline passes.
Please note that all individualized deadlines must occur after the original assignment deadline. It is not possible to set deadlines which are earlier than the assignment deadline.
FAQ
What if a student completes the task before their new deadline ends?
If a student completes the task before their new deadline passes, they can move on to the next phase (if there is one) and catch up to the rest of the class.
Will the students who receive individualized deadline extensions also get late penalties?
No, any student with an individual deadline extension for a task will not get late penalties for that task. The new deadline is considered to be their official deadline and the task is no longer considered late by the system.
What if everyone else is already done reviewing? Will the student with the late submission deadline be able to get reviews?
If the review phase is over for the rest of the class or if everyone else is already done with the review tasks, it is possible that the student won’t be able to get any peer reviews on their submission. You may need to give instructor reviews in order for the student to get a submission grade.
What happens when a student gives late reviews during or after the feedback phase?
Any student who receives late reviews from another student while the feedback phase is still active must give feedback to those reviews. If the feedback phase is already over, they will no longer be required to give feedback and their task grade will not be penalized. It’s possible that the student who enters late reviews will not receive any feedback from their peers. In that case, their task grade will not be penalized.
How does this work for group assignments?
Deadline extensions applied to Team Member Evaluation assignments and Group Peer Assessment submissions will apply to the entire group even if only one person needs the extension because all members of the group rely on each other's participation. Please note that individualized deadlines are not available for Group Formation assignments as the groups must form at the deadline with all available survey data. You can still choose to change and reopen entire assignment deadlines as needed.
