How to Create or Join a Group
Please carefully follow the instructions your teacher has given you. Sometimes instructors will create groups for you, in other cases you'll be directed to create your own group. If you have already been assigned to a group by your instructor, you can see who is in your group by clicking the Groups button on the left side navigation bar.
If your group has not already been created by an instructor, you can click the button that says Create/Join Group.
Then you will see following screen, in which you will either choose to create a new group or join a group that has already been created (by looking it up via student or via group).
If you click Create a Group, you will create a new group in which you are the group leader, and you can invite new members to join your group by clicking “Invite a New Member.” You can also edit your group’s name by clicking the small pencil after the title of the group.
If you click Join a Group (via Student), you will be able to see a list of your classmates and can request to join a group with someone you know in it. The group leader of that student’s group will get an email and they must respond to it and either accept or reject your request within 72 hours. If you do not get into the group in 72 hours, you may want to reach out to those group members separately or request to join another group.
If you click Join a Group (via Group), you will be able to see a list of all groups that have already been formed in the class and request to join a group. Again, the group leader of that group will get an email and they must respond to it and either accept or reject your request within 72 hours. If you do not get let into the group in 72 hours, you may want to request to join another group. If the group you are intending to join is not listed, then it has not yet been created. In that case, you may choose to create the group yourself.
After you have joined a group, or if you were already added to a group by your instructor, you can click the Groups button on the left side navigation bar and see the group that you are a part of. If you need to add an additional group member and it has been allowed by your instructor, you can click the Invite a New Member button.
How to Complete a Team Member Evaluation
After you are in a group, click Evaluate to begin the team member evaluation. Then, click on Start by a group member's name to begin.
For each rubric item, choose the level that best describes that person’s contribution. Then click Next. Write a comment about that group member if desired or required, and after looking at the ratings given to that user, click Finish.
Repeat this process for all students in your group.
When you've evaluated all of your group members, the green check marks will indicate that they are complete. When you are done, click Return to Dashboard.
You may be required to complete a special evaluation for a group leader, instructor, or for the whole group. Those will be listed on the Evaluation screen if they are required.
Team Member Evaluation Results
You'll be able to see the results after your instructor has released them in the Evaluations tab of your results page. Some instructors limit student visibility of these results and may choose not to release the comments, ratings, or final grades. If your instructor has released all parts of the assignment, you will be able to see your overall grade (either participation-based or based on your mean rating scores), your average rating score for each category on the rubric, and comments from your peers.
The overall grade, if visible, will be at the top of the Results page. Below that is a graph that shows how your group members rated you in comparison to the class average for each rating prompt. Continue scrolling down to see how you performed on each rating prompt and to read the comments from your group members.
If there were multiple types of evaluations, select one from the dropdown menu to see your results from that evaluation. Scroll down the page to see the rating results and comments.
