Each course that an instructor sets up has a data dashboard associated with it which will display student data for that specific course. The data dashboard tracks rubric tag data and completion data for all of the assignments in the course.
IMPORTANT: The data dashboard uses rubric tag data to track learning outcomes. You must have tags on your rubrics in order to track learning outcomes data on your data dashboard.
How to Create Tags
On the Peerceptiv rubric, you can add tags to rating prompts. The tags function as standards, skills, or learning outcomes that can be applied to multiple rating prompts. Peerceptiv will aggregate data across rating prompts that have the same associated tag.
For example, you might have two rating prompts on your rubric that both cover the learning standard of “organization.” Create a tag called “organization” and add it to both rating prompts. Peerceptiv will then combine the data for both of those rating prompts on the assignment results page, and on the data dashboard, to show how well your students met the overall standard of “organization.”
To create a tag, click within the Tags text box on the rubric rating prompt and either select a previously used tag from the list provided or add a new tag. Whenever possible, it is recommended that you use previously created tags so that the data is streamlined and aggregated around the same matching tags.
You can retroactively add tags to the rubric of a completed or previously run assignment to have the data from that assignment added to your data dashboard. You may need to unpublish the assignment to edit the rubric and add tags and then republish the assignment again. Be careful not to do this when the assignment is actively running with students.
How to View Overall Course Data on the Data Dashboard
Once you have set up and aligned your rubrics with learning outcome tags, you can view and track this data on the data dashboard.
To go to the dashboard from your course, click on the course name in the top navy bar, then click Data Dashboard.
You’ll go to the Class Overview tab on the Data Dashboard. On the right, you’ll see the assignment sequence which determines the order of the data points from left to right on the Growth Trend graph. The default order of oldest assignment created at the top to newest at the bottom will cause the assignment data points on the corresponding graph to populate from left to right and is what we recommend for tracking learner growth. However, you can change the assignment sequence as needed, especially if they were originally created out of order. You can also unselect assignments to limit the data pool utilized in the graphs. Use the drop down arrow on the growth trend graph to view your class’s overall growth trends for each of your tags.
Hover over each of the points on the graph to see the full assignment name and average percentage score.
As you scroll down the page, the graph below shows the “Counts of Participant Growth Trends for Tags.” This graph will show the number of students who improved, stayed the same, or declined over time for each of the tags on your rubrics, according to the assignment sequence you selected at the top of the page. Another way to say it is that this graph analyzes how many students improved/stayed the same/declined on a specific tag from the first assignment listed to the last assignment listed in your assignment sequence.
Below that, you’ll see the Course Tag Averages bar graph and a list of the top performing students according to their overall tag averages. Each tag is listed on the bottom of the graph and the overall tag average is shown according to a percentage point scale. The list of top performing students shows the highest overall tag averages for the learners in the course. Click more at the bottom to see all learners organized from highest average score to lowest.
Lastly, the bottom of this page shows the assignment completion rates which analyzes all assignment tasks required versus completed for each assignment. The table on the right shows the number of assignment tasks that were completed for the course in total.
How to View Individual Learner Data on the Data Dashboard
Scroll to the top of the page and click the “Individual Overview” tab. You’ll see all the learners in the course listed in the left sidebar. From there you can choose to sort the learners by All Tag Average or a particular tag and then order the list by growth trend high to low, growth trend low to high, score high to low, or score low to high. The green upward trend arrows mean the learner improved on that skill over time, the blue flat line indicates no improvement, and the red downward trend line means the learner declined in skill growth for that tag.
Click on any student’s name in the list to view their specific learning data and then click on any specific tag on the right side to view their data for that tag.
You can hover your cursor over the individual data points to see the average score for that data point and the name of the assignment that is associated with that point. You can then actually click on a specific data point for any particular assignment and go directly to that student’s submission for the assignment.
