Release Notes – Fall 2025
We’re excited to share a large set of improvements, fixes, and new capabilities released to Peerceptiv in Fall 2025. These include updates to instructor grading, including the new feature to allow instructors to grade reviews, and enhance group formation, including a new option to allow students to optionally form their own groups as part of the group formation process.
🚀 New Features
Instructor Grading & Review System
A major new suite of grading tools is now available, offering instructors and graders the ability to speed grade and speed review submissions, as well as the option to quickly view and grade student reviews.
New Features Include:
- Numerical submission grading (RR-599)
- Submission anonymity settings (RR-603) - instructors can decide if they want to see student names while grading.
- Instructor ability to pin-drop & timestamp comments (RR-610)
- Instructor reviews use a vertical rubric that is displayed all at once (RR-602)
- Quick cycling between submissions (RR-601)
- Ability to add comments while grading (RR-600)
- Comment anonymity settings - instructors can decide whether their comments are anonymous or not (RR-604)
- Grade reviewer comments numerically (RR-605) - when instructors grade a reviewer comments, this grade replaces the student helpfulness grade, even when there is no feedback phase in the assignment
- Group reviewer comments by reviewer with links to submissions (RR-606) - quickly view all review comments by reviewer
- Comment on reviewer comments (RR-607)
- Spot-check reviewing based on reviewer variance (RR-613)
- Allow multiple instructors/graders to review the same submission (RR-617)
- View-only carousel for submissions and reviews (RR-619)
- Instructor reviews available in the results export, identified by instructor (RR-1218)
- Instructors can set the grade weight of accuracy and helpfulness separately in the assignment settings - what was formerly called the review grade is now broken into accuracy and helpfulness components (RR-1322)
Grader Role Enhancements
- Option to limit graders to selected subsets of students (RR-611)
- Option to limit grader UI access to grading-specific tools only (RR-612)
Async Mode Enhancements
Redesigned Student Results Excel Download (RR-1266)
Student results excel export formatting has been fully rebuilt for clarity and consistency, following updated specification standards.
Async Review Time Limits (RR-1237)
New timeouts help maintain workflow pace:
- 24 hours after requesting a review but entering no data
- 72 hours after starting but not completing a review
Only applies if no recent activity has occurred.
Async Student Reminder Emails (RR-1263)
A three-stage reminder sequence now automatically prompts students who have submitted but not completed required reviews:
- 24 hours – Friendly reminder
- 72 hours – Second reminder
- 110 hours – Urgent notification
Group Formation Improvements
Group Formation Assignments Can Allow Optional Student Participation (RR-1232)
Instructors can choose to permit students to opt out of the group formation survey and form their own groups as part of a group formation assignment. When the algorithm forms groups, it utilizes student surveys to group students who have not already formed a group on their own.
Create Group Formation Assignments With No Students on Roster (RR-1280)
Ideal for instructional designers setting up course templates.
Optional Participation Task Grades (RR-1283)
When a group formation assignment has optional student participation enabled, all students who create or join a group and all students who complete a survey are given task grades of 100%.
🐞 Bug Fixes
Group Formation
Group Size Limit No Longer Blocks Manual Adjustments (RR-1278)
Instructors can now manually add students to groups even when the group has reached the previous “maximum size” limit. This resolves issues where default max-size constraints prevented instructors from placing additional students into groups—especially in courses that specify the number of groups rather than maximum group size.
Hide Group Formation Groups From Students Until Results Are Released (RR-1292)
Students will no longer see their group members before the instructor releases results. This ensures instructors can rearrange groups privately before publishing final teams.
Group Formation Results Email Now Tied to Results Release (RR-1293)
Students will only receive the “Group Formation Results Available” email once the instructor releases results—not at the assignment end time.
Team Member Evaluation (TME)
N/A Grades for Students With No TME Evaluations Received (RR-1281)
Students who do not receive any evaluations in a TME assignment will now receive “N/A” rather than a zero, preventing incorrect grading penalties.

Async Mode Enhancements
RR-520: Set All Deadlines the Same in a Course
Instructors can now set one deadline for all assignments within an async mode course. This eliminates the need for individual deadline configuration for each assignment, saving instructors time.
RR-879: LMS Completion-Based Results
Instructors can now set up async assignments to send a completion check to the LMS upon student completion. This setting will automatically copy over when assignments are copied.
RR-880: Async with Task Completion Grade
Instructors can assign a task grade based on the completion of all required tasks rather than basing the grade solely on the submission.
RR-881: No Accuracy Check in Async
Instructors can now remove the accuracy check from async assignments. This setting is automatically applied when fewer than 3 reviewers or rating prompts are used.
RR-882: Number of Reviewers in Async
Instructors can now select the number of reviewers for async assignments, with options ranging from 1 to 10 reviewers.
RR-883: Hide Grades Card Before Assignment is Published
Instructors now have the option to hide the grades card on the student results page before the assignment is published and before results are generated.
RR-884: Rubric Comments vs. Ratings
Instructors can now choose to include either only ratings or only comments in the rubric for async assignments, provided the assignment is set for completion-based grading.

Instructors can mandate that comments meet a minimum word count before they can be submitted. Reviews cannot be submitted unless the word count requirement is met.
Review & Grading Workflow Improvements
RR-905: Release of Results for Async Completion-Based Graded Assignment
Instructors can now choose when to release completion-based results: either when a student finishes all their tasks or when they have completed tasks and received the required number of reviews.
RR-909: Configurable Async Settings
Instructors now have more customization options for async assignments. They can select whether students receive a task grade, no grade, or completion results, as well as configure reviewer numbers, resubmit button visibility, and the visibility of grades, ratings, or comments on the results page before the assignment is published.
RR-914: Turn Off Resubmit Option for Async
Instructors can now disable the resubmit button for async assignments, preventing students from submitting their work multiple times.
Completion & Notification Enhancements
RR-915: Async Completion Assignment Student Results
A new feature allows students who have completed their tasks but are waiting for reviews to receive a message indicating that they need to wait for reviews to view their results.
RR-916: Notify Students When They Can View Results for Async Completion-Based Grading
The results page now notifies students when they have received the required number of reviews to view their results. An email notification is also sent to inform them when their ratings and comments are available.
