Note: You must have already created a Peerceptiv course or be shared on a Peerceptiv course for this to work. It will not work as described if you have not created a Peerceptiv course before or if you have not already added Peerceptiv assignments to the Brightspace course that you are copying.
If you are adding Peerceptiv assignments to a Brightspace course for the first time, please follow these directions.
Please note that you will want to reference this information when you set up the course and assignments and again after the assignment ends and the grades pass back.
Setting up the Course and Assignments
- Copy the Brightspace course or contents into your current Brightspace course.
*This assumes that the original Brightspace course is/was linked to Peerceptiv following the directions for Brightspace users, with a new external link for each assignment.
IMPORTANT: In order for course copy to work correctly, the assignment names must match (be exactly the same) in both your Brightspace course and in the Peerceptiv course you intend to copy. If the assignment names do not match in both places, they will not link correctly and may result in duplicate assignments.
- After copying the Brightspace course, you will see the Peerceptiv assignments and the gradebook columns for those assignments after copying. The grade book columns have the same point values as the original course.
- Click on the first assignment link from the Content screen. Click ‘Copy an Existing Course’ and then choose the course you want to copy.
- Update the course information - name, semester, etc. Do not change the mode (sync or async) as this must be the same as the original for the assignments to run smoothly.
- This will populate a Peerceptiv course with the assignments from the copied course.
- Go back to Brightspace and click on the link for one of the assignments. That will open to the same assignment in the linked Peerceptiv course. On the Brightspace side, make sure the assignments have the same name as the Peerceptiv course assignments. On the Peerceptiv side, edit the assignment settings, particularly the deadlines.
- You will be able to see the assignments in the Brightspac gradebook and check that the maximum point values are correct.
After the Assignment Has Ended
After the assignment ends, the Peerceptiv grades will pass back automatically if you have that setting turned on for the assignment or when you manually pass them back for that assignment. To facilate the grades passing back to Brightspace more quickly, please open the Peerceptiv assignment from the Brightspace link before you release the grades rather than going directly to Peerceptiv to release them.
After the grades are passed back to the Brightspace gradebook, you will see two of each Peerceptiv assignment in the gradebook.
- You will see that the grades successfully passed back to the column that was copied over, meaning that they are out of the correct point values.
- You will see a gradebook column for each Peerceptiv assignment that is newly created. It is out of 100 points and does not have grades in it.
- Go to Grades and then Manage Grades.
- The gradebook items that Peerceptiv passed grades to will say ‘External Learning Tool’ in the Association column and should list the correct point values for your course.
- The gradebook items with no association are out of 100 points and can be deleted. Click on the box to the left of the item. Then click the down arrow by More Actions and select ‘Delete.’ That will open a new screen. Click any assignments you want to delete (these will most likely be at the bottom of the table and there is not an easy way to distinguish them from the ones with scores) and delete.
