Please note that Peerceptiv is an external tool available under certain licensing arrangements and only where approved by your school or organization’s instructional technology office. For questions about how to get Peerceptiv at your institution, please contact Peerceptiv Support.
You MUST create the assignment in Brightspace first and then in Peerceptiv. This is true if you are creating a new Peerceptiv assignment or if you are copying in an assignment that you have previously used.
Create a Peerceptiv Assignment
You can add a Peerceptiv assignment to any section of course Content you’d like. Click Content or navigate to the page where you want to add your first assignment. Then, please select Existing Activities and then External Learning Tool to get started.
Next, you’ll click "Create New LTI Link" at the bottom of the list of previously existing links.
NOTE: You must create a new LTI link each time you create a new assignment or the grades for new assignments will overwrite the grades from previous assignments.
On the next screen you will enter the title of the assignment and the following URL to allow for grade pass back: https://go.peerceptiv.com/LTIGateway. If the Tool box does not auto-populate with Legacy LTI Tool after adding the URL, please contact your system administrator or email@example.com. Then, click Create and Insert.
Once the assignment is created in Brightspace you’ll be brought back to the course content area where you’ll see the newly created link to the Peerceptiv assignment. It may be at the bottom of the list of assignments.
Important Note: For full functionality, you need to open Peerceptiv in a new tab. The best way to do this is to click on the small down arrow after the assignment title. Then select Edit Properties In-place.
Next, put a check in the box by Open as External Resource. This will always open the assignment in a new tab, for both instructors and students.
The others way to do this is after you click on the assignment link in Peerceptiv. This option opens it in a new tab for the current session only and not for students. To do this, click the box with four arrows to open this session in a full screen.
Students will need to open the Peerceptiv assignment in a new tab as well for optimum viewing experience.
The screen shot below shows what the assignment link will look like in Brightspace after it is created. All users, both instructors and students, will click on the assignment link to be taken directly to that assignment in Peerceptiv.
Click on the newly-created assignment link and you’ll now be directed through the process of setting up the Peerceptiv-side course settings and assignment settings. When students first access this link, they'll be automatically added to the student roster within Peerceptiv.
After creating the assignment, you can tell Brightspace how to account for the assignment grade. Click on Activity Details and then Assessment. Click on the plus sign.
Then, you can add the assignment name and put the assignment into a category. Scroll down to assign a points value and add other grade-related information.
This allows you to set the number of points for the assignment, make it bonus, or other Brightspace grade book features. When you are done, click Create. Then, remember to Save all the assessment changes.
